I have a favorite time of day. That is to say, I have a favorite set of circumstances at a certain time of day. It’s mornings, a bit early, around 5 or 5:30 am when I am awake and feeling refreshed enough to get out of bed. I put on my favorite robe, start the coffee and light the candle under my scented oil dish. Then, coffee in hand, I sit on the couch and read the news or Reddit, or watch some favorite YouTube channels. A favorite Saturday morning one being Nami and her cleaning routines.
This particular day had everything one could want, while not wanting to do anything.
This particular day had everything one could want, while not wanting to do anything. It was two or three weeks ago, early February. We do get the occasional cold winter day here in Phoenix, often requiring socks or even shorts that go below the knees. On this day, I woke up around 5:30 feeling energetic enough to get out of bed and lay down on the couch. I sat up in bed, picked up my phone and ordered a dozen doughnuts from Dunkin’ Donuts for delivery. I put on my robe, started the coffee and lit the tea candle under my oil diffuser. With coffee ready in my Captain America mug, I sat down to rest from my exhausting morning and wait for my delivery.
Being nearby, my doughnuts arrived just as I was ready for a second cup of coffee. All pleasant happenstance was blending together smoothly. I ate one or two (two) sprinkle covered confections and finished my coffee, ready for my minimum third cup which I brought with me to my next activity. A hot bath with Dr. Teal’s wonderful Epsom salt foaming soap. That is to say, a bubble bath. Pink Himalayan Mineral bubble soap, to be exact. With my Kindle in hand, I started a new book called, “All Systems Red: The Murderbot Diaries“.

It was still early morning when I got out of the tub *Have I talked about tub yet? No? Well, with my never ending house remodel I went all out and bought a deep soaking bathtub with water jets, bubble jets, and aromatherapy container port!* and put my robe back on and my Bombas *Have I talked about my Bombas before?* when I was ready for a true breakfast. It was nothing fancy, scrambled eggs, bacon and an English muffin with plenty of butter and a drop of jam.
By this time I was ready for a nap. In all seriousness, I curled up in in my Lovesac and fell asleep.
When I awoke about an hour later I felt great! What did I do? Nothing. Watched some more shows, maybe cleaned up the kitchen. Mostly nothing. Before long it was lunch time, and boy was I ready. I got out the cast iron pan, dropped a large block of garlic butter in it and tossed it in the oven. Then came a well salted T-bone steak in the pan for a quick cook in the oven and a pleasant heat source to warm myself from. Some corn and beans rounded up my feast and I was soon filled and happy.
By this time it was early afternoon and I had so many things of doing nothing planned. I may have done one load of laundry but I am sure you will forgive me for that. Mostly, I alternated between playing my Meta Quest, PS5, cleaning (something I consider fun) and internet surfing as we used to say. Somehow the day filled up and evening came. I was able to comfortably slip into bed and make up wonderful dreams to put me to sleep with.
